Free Weezy

Every time a rapper gets arrested, there are “Free (insert rapper name)” campaigns, complete with shirts, stickers, songs, and tributes to the lives of these individuals – well, mostly just shirts. (“Free Gucci!” or “Free Prodigy!” or “Free T.I.!“) I always make fun of it, because it seems senseless to demand immunity from punishment just because these people are famous rappers.

But tomorrow, Lil Wayne goes to jail, and it hit me. How can you arrest Lil Wayne? We need to stand up to this, people. We can’t hold Lil Wayne to our petty, human laws. For a gun? Shit, expecting Lil Wayne to abide by the laws is as ridiculous as expecting Allen Iverson to go to practice – fucking practice, not the game – practice. I’m just glad they aren’t making him cut his hair. This giggling goblin still greets me in my nightmares.

In all seriousness, I’ll miss Wayne’s presence for the next year however long they decide to hold him, but I have a sneaking suspicion that he’s recorded enough material to hold us over for the next 3 centuries. Locking him up in a cell on Rikers Island may be the only possible way to give Dwayne a much needed break. Good luck, Lil Wayne, we’ll miss you, and we’ll be wearing our “Free Weezy” shirts until your return.

Update: Lil Wayne will not go to jail today. He had a toothache, and it requires dental surgery. So he will go to jail in March instead. No, I’m not joking.

New! Lil’ Wayne – "Maybach Music 3" + "Girls On Girls"

Got two tagged snippets from Weezy off of his unofficial *Tear Drop Tune 3* mixtape. I wouldn’t of even posted these two tagged snippets if I didn’t like Wayne’s verses on ’em.

Spotted @ NR. First joint is “Maybach Music 3” which features Birdman. I’m guessing Rick Ross’ verse is missing on this one. The other is “Girls On Girls” which features Sean Garrett. I like the sound of “MM3” & the production is crazy; def need to hear the full version of that tho. I have a strange feeling that Birdman is going to f*ck it up for me.

UPDATE: “Maybach Music 3” is actually called “Veterans Day” & will actually be on Ricky’s upcoming *Teflon Don* album. Check it below!

Lil Wayne – "Fuck Today" ft. Gudda Gudda (Rebirth Mix)

If you can get over Weezy’s weird autotune whining, you might enjoy this one. With a lot of hip-hop focusing in on a lavish lifestyle that most of us can only relate to in our sleep, this one describes something that we’re all probably very familiar with – a shitty day. So grab your Jim Beam, turn this on, make an angry face and break something.

New! Lloyd ft Lil Wayne & Drake – "Bedrock Pt 2"

I like the idea of this, because whenever I heard this song I listened to the Lil Wayne and Drake verses and put my hands over my ears and said “LA LA LA LA LA LA” for the rest of Young Money. But I miss the chorus. Now the only part I can sing along with is “Girl I gotta watch my back, cuz I’m not just anybody”. Win some, lose some, right?

Oh shit, the chorus is in here. Win ’em all motherfuckers!

Video! Uncensored – Lil Wayne, Eminem, Drake, Travis Barker Grammy Performance

This will be the last Grammy post, I promise. If you missed any of the performances check them out here. If you were watching on TV, then you must probably noticed how ridiculous the censoring was during the Travis Barker, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and Drake portion. When they anticipated a swear word being used, CBS muted the volume for a good 5 seconds, causing millions of Americans to hit their television to make sure it was working. (Because every American knows that if something is wrong with your television, you hit it).

The censoring really fucked with my ability to enjoy the performance, so here is the uncensored video. It’s especially confusing to see, because you notice that most of the time the guys censor themselves. It really makes you think that whoever was in charge of the censoring was not a fan of hip-hop. Or maybe they are just a huge fan of playing it safe.

Below is a video of Drake talking to Sway and his downsized head wear about the words Eminem gave him before the performance.

New! Erykah Badu ft. Lil Wayne – "Jump Up in the Air (Stay There)"

Yes. I’ve been waiting for this. Erykah Badu just let loose the first version of this song. There will be 9 more versions coming with different guest spots on each one. Number one features (who else?) Lil Wayne. It’s going to be fun to see who else gets selected for the spots and who shines. New Amerykah pt.2: Return of the Ankh is set to drop March 30th.

Video! Lil Wayne – The Nino Brown Story (Full Documentary)

Here’s the full documentary, in case you aren’t sick of pieces on Lil Wayne. I’m not. Even if you don’t like him, you have to admit he’s a hell of a subject. I see him and hear him on an almost daily basis, but somehow he comes across as unreal as a cartoon. Then something like this comes out. There are 9 parts to this.
