Video! Heavy Metal Aborigine Gangs In Australia

Wow. Here is some footage documenting a remote town called Wadeye in Australia that is home to violent Aborigine heavy metal gangs that take their names, dress, and attitudes from heavy metal bands. Where do I sign up? I had no idea that this existed, but it looks really interesting. Saw it at EatSkeet.

Video! The First 10 Minutes Of Lil Wayne’s The Carter Documentary

Here is a video of the first 10 minutes of Lil Wayne’s The Carter documentary. I’ve talked about this documentary, so I’m not gonna go into it again, but it looks like an interesting look into the life of a pop culture icon. Next week: the 10th to 20th minutes of The Carter. Not really. I haven’t watched this yet, so I’m about to check it out now. Thanks to FirstUp.

Trailer! The Carter Documentary

Here’s a documentary to the upcoming documentary about Lil Wayne called The Carter. I’ve heard good things about this documentary. Apparently it goes past all the glamour and gets into Wayne as a person (if that’s possible). It also deals heavily with his syrup sipping. Whenever I get my hands on some codeine laced syrup I get all excited and chug it, but it always leads to a night full of really, really bad itching all over my body and the next day is spent dizzy and stumbling. Pretty sure I’m allergic. Pretty sure I’ll never learn my lesson. If they don’t want people to abuse it, they shouldn’t make it so delicious.

Video! Before The Music Dies (Documentary)

Johnny just put this in the comments section of my recent rant. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m about to watch. Looks really interesting and very relevant to what I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. Here‘s the film’s site.

The documentary features a wide variety of musicians from ?uestlove to My Morning Jacket to Les Paul, and it’s narrated by Forest Whitaker, so you know it’s good.

Never have so few companies controlled so much of the music played on the radio and for sale at retail stores. At the same time, there are more bands and more ways to discover their music than ever. Music seems to have split in two – the homogenous corporate product that is spoonfed to consumers and the diverse independent music that finds devoted fans online and at clubs across the country.

Sidenote: ahhaha Erykah Badu is hilarious.

Create your own publicity. Do some ho shit. Ya know? Do it. Do some ho shit.

No you don’t need to be able to sing. Just move your mouth and shit. They’ll work that out.

Trailer: Rip! A Remix Manifesto

For the documentary we’ve been making for over 6 years on copyright and remix culture: with Lawrence Lessig, Girl Talk, Negativland, Cory Doctorow, Gilberto Gil, The Mouse Liberation Front….and you.

Let me know what you guys think of this, and if anyone is interested. I may be able to get my hands on a couple of free downloads for a few P&P readers.

UPDATE: Not really sure what the deal is, but when I was first contacted about this I was told that I could possibly have a few free downloads to give away. Today the director Twittered me and said that you can go to http://www.ripremix.com/ and download a copy for your price. So, a contest doesn’t really make sense when the prize is something you can get for yourself.
