Kid Cudi – "Highs and Lows"

It’s Tuesday, so excuse my spaz blogging. Tuesday always offers a storm of new music and I go into panic mode and just keep pressing the post button. You know I couldn’t resist this though. Kid Cudi is one of the few artists who can simultaneously keep things so simple and so honest, open, and real at the same time.

From Headbanga Muzik Group:

This must be the realest shit ever. We did this track like 3-4 yrs ago during the grind, trying to get shit moving. Just knowing what he was dealing with during this time period makes this record more than just a song. The sample used in the song was taken from Bob Dylan’s “Lay Lady Lay”. I noticed a bad quality version of it leaked so I figure might as well put out a better version.

Video! Make The Girl Dance – "Kill Me"

Excessive swearing, boobs, punting babies, smashing guitars, snorting lines, playing piano naked, helicopter rides, jumping out of planes, and shooting guns. This is a great video.

It’s the new music video from electronica act Make The Girl Dance for their song “Kill Me.” What would you do if you only had 8 days to live? Here’s what Make The Girl Dance would do.

Lil Wayne – "Fuck Today" ft. Gudda Gudda (Rebirth Mix)

If you can get over Weezy’s weird autotune whining, you might enjoy this one. With a lot of hip-hop focusing in on a lavish lifestyle that most of us can only relate to in our sleep, this one describes something that we’re all probably very familiar with – a shitty day. So grab your Jim Beam, turn this on, make an angry face and break something.

Yeasayer – "Ambling Alp" (Alan Wilkis Remix)

Alan Wilkis has taken my favorite song from Yeasayer’s recent album Odd Blood and installed some robot arms and dance shoes. As the ultimate compliment, the band gave this their stamp of approval. Check it out below.

New! The Secret Machines – "Like I Can"

Remember The Secret Machines? With their self described “space rock” The Secret Machines were getting big buzz and critical acclaim a few years ago. Then, at least in my world, they evaporated. I haven’t heard anything from them or about them in years, and now they reappear with this hard hitting single.

This song was conceived as a conversation. You know, some of my best conversations have been held between me and myself. Not that I feel particularly anti-social or anything. It’s just that when operating as both parties, one tends to have more patience for revision. Editing for content and language. Balancing intensity of emotion with just the right amount of logic. Anyway, as you might have guessed this practice has resulted in many missed opportunities. So, this is it. Spilled out like a cracked wine glass. Me at my most persuasive? Perhaps not, but it’s a start.

Video! A Night Out With Dan Black

Since that Dan Black/Kid Cudi video just dropped, I realized that although I love Dan Black’s music, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him outside of music videos and press pictures. So here’s a video of Dan Black linking up with the people from Smirnoff to show them some of his city, Paris, beyond the Eiffel Tower.

He shows you a street art gallery, a favorite restaurant with a ping pong table, and then meets up with his friends for an aftershow party.
