Wu-Tang vs The Beatles – The Magical Mystery Chambers

I know I’ve been posting a lot of mash-ups, but this is a little different. 28 year old music teacher Tom Caruana spent 2 months cutting and pasting to form what is starting to look like round 2 of The Grey Album. (My music teachers never did cool shit like that. They just made me learn “Mary Had A Little Lamb” on the recorder every year.) The album is quickly gaining in both downloads and attention, so if you want to check it out, do so now before labels get involved and links start disappearing. It even got the thumbs up from Raekwon.

This time, Caruana subtracts the Jay-Z element and instead throws in sounds of Wu-Tang up against the sounds of The Beatles for Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers. His sampling is also a lot less straightforward. On some songs he uses multiple Beatles samples and obscure cover versions of songs, making it difficult to even recognize that you’re even hearing The Beatles. It’s much different than the 2 song, peanut butter and jelly mash-ups that you may be accustomed to. Very well done, and the results speak for themselves. Here are a couple of my favorites, plus the whole thing below.

Rifoki (Steve Aoki + The Bloody Beetroots) – "Sperm Donor"

Rifoki is the New Punk Hardcore project of Steve Aoki & Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, better known as The Bloody Beetroots. Recorded in Italy with Giulio Favero (ZU), Franz (Il Teatro Degli Orrori) & Rocco Rampino (La Quiete, The Death Of Anna Karina), Rifoki is the maximum level of expression of a lifestyle that has brought them to be two of the most recognized DJs & producers in the world.

But before they were DJs and producers, before electro, and before the rocked the clubs, Steve Aoki and Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo were punk rockers. Rifoki is a return to their roots: hardcore punk, pure and simple.

DJ Moondance – "No Stuntin, No Cry" (Lil Wayne vs Bob Marley)

I was going to start this post with “What do Bob Marley and Lil Wayne have in common? Probably not much, except this song.” But then I thought about it. They actually have a good deal in common:

-The dreadlocks
-The marijuana (and the arrests for possession of said marijuana)
-The women
-The children with different women (Bob Marley had 10 children with 8 different women. Wayne is 4 and 4 – catch up)
-The fame
-Getting shot (although I don’t think Bob Marley ever accidentally shot himself)
-Oh yeah, and this song

You can check more of DJ Moondance‘s stuff here. Thanks to Matt for sending this over.

Timbaland ft. Katy Perry – "If We Ever Meet Again" (Chew Fu Deja Chew Fix)

If I was comfortable enough with myself to enjoy a Timbo and Katy Perry collabo without feeling a slow cancer developing somewhere in my gut, this would be my shit. I like what Chew Fu did here. Don’t be mad.
