New! Keri Hilson Ft. Keyshia Cole & Nicki Minaj – "Get Ya Money Up" (Remix)

I personally love this song. Usually bumping it while driving real fast & acting real ig’nant. Some songs are just good for being whip music/club music. This is off of Keri’s *In A Perfect World…* LP & originally featured Trina on the rapping part. I like this version better, time to gas up.

& I’m also noticing Nicki has somewhat of an obsession with balls. In this song she says something like, “I big balls..no elephantitis”.

In “Finale” off of the Young Money lp she says, 2 other songs, off of the Young Money album if I’m not mistaken, “like Lamar Odom..I balls..scrotum”. & in Robin Thicke’s “Shakin It For Daddy” she say’s “cause I ba..ba..ba..ba..balls..no testicles” & in the same song she also says “balls like Yao Ming-a-ling”. IDK, maybe something is wrong with me for noticing her excessive mentions of balls.

New! Spits Da Dawn – "2 Da Left" + "Can’t Let U Go" Ft. Tunes

With Spits Da Dawn’s *Quality Over Quantity* mixtape dropping in a little over a week from now (Jan 13th), Spits is building up anticipation by releasing 2 more joints, both available for free download.

The 1st one is titled “2 Da Left”, in which he goes over Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” instrumental addressing alot of sh*t that’s been going on in his life. Definitely a relatable & deep record. The 2nd is titled “Can’t Let U Go”, which is over the Frankie Beverly & Maze classic, “Before I Let Go”, & it features male R&B vocalist, Tunes. If I’m not mistaken “Can’t Let U Go” is not going to be on *QOQ*.

Madlib – "Kill Em" ft Guilty Simpson (Remix)

I always say Madlib is one of my favorite producers, but he’s definitely not for everyone. There are so many different styles out there that the term “producer” seems to be in need of a prefix. You’ve got your sample-looping, scratching DJs like Premier and Babu, then you’ve got the big beat, synth heavy producers like Timbaland and Scott Storch, and there’s thousands of variations in between and outside of these extremes. Madlib is a crate-digging, jazzy, blazed out producer who’s worked with artists like MF DOOM, Talib Kweli, and Erykah Badu. His style is so far from Timbaland that job title is probably the only thing they have in common. I think the most comparable producer out there today is Flying Lotus, but I’d take Madlib over Lotus any day. Here’s some info on this new track courtesy of Shake:

This is the first of a one-a-month, twelve-CD series from Madlib on his own imprint, Madlib Invazion. Madlib Medicine Show No. 1: Before The Verdict is a full 17-track hip-hop album with original tracks and “the OJ Simpson remixes” featuring Guilty Simpson. Consider it a prelude to Madlib & Guilty’s collab OJ Simpson. There are two brief guest appearances by MED and J Dilla, in a short, previously unreleased interlude dating back to his & Madlib’s first collaboration. An 8-page booklet with track list is included in the CD.

Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) – "Hazleton"

This track is a glimpse into Justin Vernon’s raw musical talent before millions of ears got familiar with his sound through the beautiful Bon Iver release For Emma, Forever Ago. Technology is great, and for music it has led to bands who were once limited to used instruments, garages, and shoddy recording equipment being able to dabble with all kinds of sound effects, synths, and electricity. I love a lot of that music, but Bon Iver reminds us that great music can still be made by a man and an acoustic guitar.

It’s comforting to think that no matter what kind of stuff is possible, music is not the same without the human element. I’m sure one day, labels will create hit-making robots, rendering some programmable pop stars and their puppeteers obsolete. But a robot could never replace Bon Iver. This track was recorded in Wisconsin and 100 copies were released in Raleigh. It’s the first time I’ve ever heard it. Thanks to PMA.

New! Mickey Factz – *thedarkphoenix: ALPHA* (Mixtape)

And here’s one more project from another one of last years freshmen. Mickey Factz has been talking about this ALPHA project via his twitter for a while now. The release date was January 1st, & that’s exactly when it dropped. Mickey also was fairly quiet this past year, I guess him & Blu are planning on turning it up for the new year. Track list & download below. Also via 2dbz.

1. Sunrise

With all of my projects, I let all of my emotions and feelings out on one song. Just me writing as much as I possibly can and letting the feel of the beat dictate my tone. At the time of me painting this record, I wanted to have a feeling of overcoming. In hindsight that’s what the sun does everyday, overcome the night. I used the sun as a metaphor to convey these emotions.

2. Amnesia

A lot of people forget that I can actually rap. I get that feeling a lot. All the time. So with how I approach my freestyles, I try to spit over instrumentals and loops that nobody would dare use. Justice is one of my favorite groups and “Let There Be Light” is one of my favorite records from them. So I did what I did best: Paint.

[Color/s: Green]

3. Turn It Up

A preview of what’s to come in 2010. This song is featured on DJ Amplive’s project dropping this year. Enjoy it while you can.

[Color/s: Red & Green]

4. Still I Rise

Whatever happened to the anthems? What happened to the songs to help us get through struggles? I’ve felt down at times. I’ve hit rock bottom. I’ve lost my mind a couple of times that I can remember. However, through it all, still I rise. Maya Angelou’s famous poem is a prophetic message for me in my life. Nothing will or can tear me down as long as I’m breathing. And if I can believe that, so should you.

[Color/s: Blue & Green]

5. Ashes

In the midst of enjoying life, there is pain. During the recording process, that’s exactly what I felt. I know how to place my life in records very well. For example, when certain people get depressed, they smoke. Its like an extension of sighing almost. I named the song ashes to remind us that when we go through certain things, the unnecessary things, then it’s time to dump those ashes. Ashes fall off the end of a cigarette very easily and when u fall for someone so should minuscule problems.

[Color/s: Blue]

6. S/ecrets T/hat D/estroy

The premise and subject of this song is often strayed away from. I wanted to touch base on something that’s affecting the world day by day. Usually when we get wind of a secret, we’re supposed to hold onto it until death. Ironically, the particular secrets I talk about bring forth death, destruction and despair.

[Color/s: Red]

7. Contemplations Of A King

I was born a prince. All of us are born into royalty. In order to inherit the upper echelon of what’s inevitable, you have to figure out life’s quarrels. There are so many hurdles to deter you. Succeeding in conquering these quarrels takes patience, wisdom and contemplation. Through that, you will realize your true potential.

[Color/s: Red & Blue]

8. Sunset

The Phoenix is a mythical creature who rises from the ashes, creating a surge of fire to reach its peak. Watching the sunset is like experiencing the gates of heaven open up before your eyes. Most people have seen so many wonders in life always anticipating the next greatest thing. When in reality, their life is the greatest experience they will live. We must live each day like the phoenix, as the sun sets to see the unimaginable of the next.

New! Blu – *theGODleeBarnes* (LP)

Blu (one of the freshman from XXL’s 09 List) has been rather quiet this past year. 2 days ago, out of nowhere, he released this LP titled *theGODleeBarnes*. I’m hearing that the quality of it isn’t the greatest, but it’s good! Listening to it now, the quality is definitely shitty if you ask me. Almost couldn’t listen to it after bumping the 1st track, but it’s dope!

This is one mp3 that is a little over a hour long. Download link via 2dbz & unofficial artwork below.
