2010 Grammy Nominees

Here are the 2010 Grammy Nominees in the leading categories. Thanks to AOL. I don’t really have much to say about these, because I guess I’m not representative of the majority of music listeners. But I’m a blogger, so fuck it. Here are my thoughts:

-AC/DC put an album out this year?

-Everyone in the Best Rock Album category is way past their prime and/or irrelevant

-I don’t think I’ve ever really listened to a full Taylor Swift song. I can tell you that her face bothers me.

-Best Rap Performance looks okay. I like Mos Def, but what’s he doing on there?

-What’s a Zac Brown Band?

-Maxwell still sings? I thought he passed away in 1990 in a snowmobile accident

-I predict Gaga will win big

– Go Cudi! (Heard he’s got 3 nominations overall)

Okay that’s pretty much all I thought while looking at these. I spend every day of my life seeking out new music, yet seeing the Grammy nominees makes me feel out of the loop. Sad, no matter how you look at it. What do you think?

I gotta say i disagree with the Mos Def comment, especially when he's up against Drake (who i think is a little overrated).

If Drake takes one then that will be history right there. No debut album and 2 grammy nominations is crazy in itself. On a side note: I hope Pink takes one home, because she works her ass off and never gets the credit.

I'm a big fan of Mos Def, I just think a Grammy nomination for Casa Bey seems weird. It seemed that this song had little effect on anything compared to his past releases and compared to the other artists in the category. I'm ok with it, just surprised.

Zac Brown Band had the best country album of the year, hands down. I usually hate country, but Toes was one of my favorite records released this year. The pre-album version before they added the organs that is.

Politically, DOA will take it, but Casa Bey marked Mos's return to rap after arguably two abysmal albums. True Def fans were checking for it and the album and song stand amongst his best work. He himself has said if he were to pass on, take Casa Bey to explain who Mos Def is. Day N' Nite has been out on the net two years now right? Don't confuse Best I Ever Had and these other pop hits as the best simply because they had industry push. But alas, that's what the powers that be will do.

Why are the Silversun Pickups on Best New Artist? Theyve been around forever. Did they put out something super pop now?

The E.N.D. over 808s and Heartbreak for album of the year? Bullshit.

808's was a huge disappointment. I'd take The E.N.D. over it anyday.

Seriously are these awards even relevant anymore. Granted i understand that they're not going to recognize the shit i like but come on, these nominees are so fucking whitebread. Its essentially a bunch of songs played 20 times a day spread out over 6 radio stations. NO thanks!

When I looked at the cluster F of the full grammy list, it just hurt my head. They really need to revise all these crazy categorys. Really there is a metal, hard rock, rock AND alternative category? Crazy! Then all this duo vs. single, rap with singing & without, its too much.Oh & these nominations suck except for Cudi & Gaga. No big shock there though.
