Happy Thanksgiving From Pigeons and Planes!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating! I hope you all have a good time with family, friends, or whoever you’re with. Enjoy the turkey and a deep tryptophan induced coma. Here’s a song that has always reminded me of Thanksgiving. It’s Bob Schneider’s awesome acoustic version of the Scarecrow’s “If I Only Had A Brain”. I put it on a Thanksgiving mix back in highschool and it’s always the first song I think of when Turkey Day comes around.

Since it’s Thanksgiving, I guess I should thank all of you for coming to Pigeons and Planes and supporting it for the past year. It’s been a trip to watch the site grow and I really appreciate all the support from you guys: Tips on new songs, guerrilla marketing for P&P, random emails, hilarious Twitter conversations, technical support for a blogger with no computer skills, and just stopping by and leaving a comment.

Special thanks to:

Frank Ramz
for being part of the P&P team, and for making good music. If you’re music sucked, I’d still keep you around, but it’s nice to have my fellow blogger in my iPod!

Luis from Pretty Much Amazing for being like a big bro in the blog game. I came into this shit with very little idea of what I was doing and Luis has helped me understand a lot of things that I didn’t even know existed.

Shake and Meka from 2DopeBoyz. One of the first blogs I really got into and learned that a blog (even a hip-hop blog) is more than just a bunch of mp3s and videos posted up. These guys have character, and their blog is one of the few out there that has a pulse.

Gotta thank Eskay from NahRight, even though I get no love! Haha again, one of the first blogs I got into. I actually had a short email conversation with Eskay about helping out at NahRight way back, but he eventually stopped responding. So I decided to start my own blog.

Roni from the band From. In my mind, she’s a genius. Got a question about graphic design? Go to her. Fashion? Her. Life? She’s the one. Very cool person with lots of knowledge. She actually designed a lot of what you see when you come to P&P. And she’s in From and also in my iPod!

Also thanks to:
Modi from DCtoBC
Jon Jon from Sound Verite
Johnny the Anamoly
Will from We All Want Someone To Shout For
MO for making those stickers
A.R. from Good Fella Radio
The Midnight Kid and Rajan Gill for being 2 of the most active Twitter supporters
NewBornRadio from Complex Media
The people at MTV Buzzworthy Blog for linking to me
Rogo and Fisha for helping me out when I needed it
RoyalPurp and InternetGoon for being hilarious on Twitter

Alright, that’s it. Maybe I’ll update later when I realize who I forgot. Thanks to the fucking internets. As far as real life – thanks to my family, my beautiful girlfriend (I love you even though you don’t read my blog), and all my friends who come here. (Fuck the rest of you. I just pretend to be your friend so I can steal stuff from you. See what I did there? ‘Cause they won’t see that.) That’s enough. Have a good Thanksgiving!

What are you thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving guys! We gotta be thankful for music – can't live without it. And sometimes listening to the right songs at the right moments can be an amazing experience.

I'm thankful for the music. The music, that at least for a little while fills a sweet sort of ache. When a song is done, another take its' place; an endless stream of comfort and distraction to help me take my find off things i'm less thankful for. Thank you Pigeons and Planes for providing this comfort.

Confusion!! Thank you so much for the kind words and all the support. Good thing you can't see someone blush through a comment thread. It means a lot to me to be part of P&P – I'm a big fan of yours, you know. Besides making sharp music observations, you have a way with rough humor while being such a kind, humble person. Who can do that? ❤
