Video! Screamo Cover of The Postal Service’s "Such Great Heights"

What the fuck? Just saw this video of a screamo band called Confide covering The Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights”. I’m already uncomfortable listening to The Postal Service, but these guys just took things to a level that makes me want to cut my ears off, pick up a self destructive habit, and not take part in a society that could spawn this type of fuckery. I don’t even understand how these guys can be serious about this. I try to be positive/neutral about most things I post on here, but watching this makes me want to fight these guys. Check it out!

Wale ft. Lady Gaga – Chillin (The Knocks Remix)

This remix feels like that 5 cent bubblegum that you didn’t know still existed post-1950. The Knocks take Wale’s feel good hit single and make it even more fluffy. This remix has an (almost?) over-the-top disco vibe to it, but if that bass line doesn’t make you feel good, then you are definitely a loser robot.

New! Monsters Of Folk (Conor Oberst + Jim James Supergroup) – "Say Please"

Most of the time, supergroups are a let down. I tried to work this out mathematically, but it doesn’t make sense. It seems natural that if you like Artist A and you like Artist B, that you will also like Artist A + Artist B. If Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Bob Marley, Pac, Biggie, and Kurt Cobain got together for an album, I bet it wouldn’t even get posted at P&P.

Whatever. This is a case of the rareness. A supergroup that actually sounds good! Monsters Of Folk is Conor Oberst & Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes) and Jim James (My Morning Jacket) & M. Ward (She & Him). Maybe the fact that I’ve been recently disappointed by both Conor Oberst and Jim James makes this collaboration even more surprisingly delicious. I don’t know who does the song writing, or if they all work together on this, but you can definitely hear some Bright Eyes elements and some MMJ influence. Good shit. Thanks for giving musicians everywhere the strength to keep trying to make sense of this madness that is the supergroup conundrum.

New! Lupe Fiasco – "This Is For My N*ggas"

This track originally surfaced back in May with a DJ’s tags on it. Now here it is without the DJ!!! I don’t think this will be on *We Are Lasers*, but who doesn’t want some more Wasalu?

New! Classified – "Inspiration" and "Choose Your Own Adventure 3"

I got into Canadian emcee Classified like 7 or 8 years ago. I really liked his music, and then I didn’t hear anything from him for about 7 or 8 years (Even though he’s been consistently putting out music). Then today came. I just checked out his new (April 2009) album Self Explanatory and it’s the best thing I’ve heard from him in about 7 or 8 years… But seriously, it’s really good.

Shit (I’m gonna start using this word more. Way too many damns and fucks in my vocabulary.), the album has some sick beats. Not sick on some mindblowing “I’ve never heard anything like this before”, but sick on some “damn, this makes perfect sense”. Production reminds me of Premier mixed with Ant (of Atmosphere). Really simple, but so smooth. Definitely some good shit for heads who aren’t impressed with bells, whistles, and shiny objects.
