New! The Dream – "What’s Wrong Wit U"

Haha this one has The Dream singing from the perspective of a woman, so I think it’s safe to say that this is a demo that will be bought and recorded by a female singer. Sounds like a tight song though, and it’s funny as hell to hear The Dream talking about getting his hair and nails done and shaking his ass on the dance floor.

I said I know I’m crazy but what’s wrong wit u?

Pomegranates – "Corriander"

Sometimes to come up with a good post I literally spend hours scouring the internet, digging through obscure music magazines, and hitting some of the country’s best kept live music spot secrets to discover a gem of a song or an underground band ready to bloom, and then I showcase that music to the lucky readers of P&P. Sometimes I go to elbo.ws and look at the hot songs.

I don’t know much about Pomegranates, but their music has been classified as art-pop, they are from Ohio, they have been asked to hit the road with Islands and French Kicks, and their sophomore album Everybody, Come Outside! is due in April.

Theophilus London – Tracks from This Charming Mixtape

After a couple people recommended this to me (thanks to Guest and Johnny over at Carpe Noctem)I finally got around to checking out Theophilus London. I downloaded This Charming Mixtape and the shit caught me way off guard. This dude raps a little, sings a little, and chooses some wild, genre leaping instrumentals to go in on. If you don’t check this out now you’ll probably feel like an asshole later. Here’s a couple tracks along with a link to the full mixtape.

Nickel Eye ft. Wale – "Brandy of the Damned" (Ronson Remix)

Here is Mark Ronson’s remix of Strokes member Nikolai (Nickel Eye)’s song “Brandy of the Damned” from The Time of the Assassins. Really cool remix with some chilled out horns, nice percussion, and DC’s finest. Credit to Fader.
